Knee Surgeon for Patients in Lusail
Quick answer
Lusail's runners, cyclists and padel players often come in with front or outer knee pain from training, or a twisting injury on court. They reach Aman Hospital Doha by the Red Line or Lusail Expressway, and knee surgeon Dr. Pablo Gelber assesses what is driving the pain and how to get back to activity safely.
Getting to Aman Hospital from Lusail
The Doha Metro Red Line begins in Lusail. Lusail QNB is the northern terminus, and Legtaifiya connects with the Lusail Tram. Ride the Red Line south through Katara, West Bay and Msheireb, staying on to Al Matar Al Qadeem or Oqba Ibn Nafie in the Old Airport area, where Aman Hospital is on Airport Street. It is a single journey with no change, which suits patients who would rather not drive.
By car, Lusail Expressway runs south past The Pearl and Katara into West Bay; from there you cross the city to the Old Airport side. Drivers in northern Lusail can also use Al Khor Road to reach Al Majd Road, which runs around the outside of Doha to the south.
An active waterfront city and the knee
Lusail was planned around outdoor space. The Lusail Marina promenade and Lusail Boulevard draw runners, walkers and cyclists, especially in the cooler months and the late evening in summer. Lusail Stadium and Lusail International Circuit bring major events, and padel and gym culture are part of everyday life in the newer residential towers.
Runners building distance on flat, hard paths often develop pain at the front of the knee around the kneecap, or on the outside of the knee from IT band syndrome, which typically starts at the same point in each run. Cyclists can get similar pain if the saddle is set too low or too far forward. Padel brings quick lateral movements and sudden stops, and a twist with a pop and swelling may mean an ACL or meniscus injury rather than a simple sprain.
Overuse pain usually improves with changes to training load, strength work and equipment set-up, rather than surgery. The consultation sorts out which problem you have and what to change first.

Frequently asked questions
I live in Lusail and my knee hurts on the outside when I run. What is it?
Pain on the outside of the knee that comes on at a predictable point in a run is often IT band syndrome. It usually settles with a temporary reduction in distance, hip and thigh strengthening and a gradual build-up. If it does not, or the knee swells or locks, book an assessment.
Can I take the metro from Lusail to Aman Hospital without changing?
Yes. The Red Line runs from Lusail south to Al Matar Al Qadeem and Oqba Ibn Nafie in the Old Airport area. A short taxi or feeder bus covers the last part to the hospital.
I twisted my knee at padel and it swelled the same evening. Should I keep playing?
No. Fast swelling after a twist often means bleeding inside the joint, which can come from an ACL tear or other structural injury. Stop pivoting sports, use ice and elevation, and have the knee examined.
