Knee Surgeon for Patients in the Industrial Area, Doha
Quick answer
People working and living in Doha's Industrial Area, in construction, workshops, logistics and manufacturing, can see orthopaedic knee surgeon Dr. Pablo Gelber at Aman Hospital in the Old Airport area. He assesses knee injuries from site work, pain from kneeling, squatting and heavy lifting, and injuries from sport on rest days.
Getting to Aman Hospital from the Industrial Area
The Industrial Area lies south of Salwa Road, with West Industrial Street and East Industrial Street running through it towards the G-Ring Road. To reach the Old Airport area, most drivers either head east along Salwa Road and then take the ring roads, or follow the G-Ring Road east towards the Al Thumama interchange, which connects with the Old Airport area. Aman Hospital is in Zone 47, near Airport Street and the F-Ring Road.
The roads out of the Industrial Area are very busy at the start and end of shifts, when buses take workers between sites and accommodation. A mid-morning or early-afternoon appointment is usually easier. If you rely on company transport, ask your supervisor in advance.
Hard physical work and the knee
The Industrial Area is one of Doha's main working districts, with construction yards, vehicle workshops, warehouses and factories, and many workers living in company accommodation nearby. This work is skilled and demanding, and it asks a lot of the knees.
- Kneeling and squatting for long periods, for example tiling, welding, pipe fitting and vehicle repair, which can inflame the bursa in front of the kneecap or strain the meniscus
- Lifting and carrying heavy loads, often in the heat, which adds stress to the cartilage
- Twists and falls from ladders, scaffolding and vehicles, which can tear ligaments or the meniscus or break bone
- Football and cricket on rest days, which bring their own twisting injuries
Knee pain does not mean you cannot work again. Many problems improve with treatment, knee pads, adjusted tasks and strengthening. What matters is not ignoring warning signs: a knee that swells, locks, gives way or stops you walking normally.
What to bring and how booking works
Call Aman Hospital on +974 4400 4400 or use the contact page. To get the most from the visit:
- Bring your Qatar ID and health insurance card, and check with your employer and insurer what your policy covers before you come
- If the injury happened at work, bring the incident report and any notes from your site clinic
- Bring any X-ray or MRI, with the report
- If you prefer to explain in another language, you may bring a colleague or friend to help
At the end of the consultation you can ask for a written note for your employer explaining what work you can safely do while the knee recovers.

Frequently asked questions
I hurt my knee at work in the Industrial Area. What should I do first?
Stop the task, report it to your supervisor and site medical team, rest and use ice. Go to an emergency department if you cannot bear weight, the knee looks deformed, or your foot is numb. Otherwise arrange an assessment if it swells, locks or gives way.
My knee hurts from kneeling all day. Will knee pads help?
Often, yes. Good knee pads, breaks from kneeling and strengthening the thigh muscles usually reduce pain. A soft swelling over the kneecap, or pain that continues on rest days, should be examined.
Can I get a note for my employer about light duties?
Yes. After examining your knee, Dr. Gelber can explain which tasks to avoid and for how long, and provide a note for your employer.
